Andie MacDowell is a former fashion model and actress from the United States. She made her film debut in Greystoke: The Legend of Tarzan, Lord of the Apes in 1984, and St. Elmo’s Fire in 1985, before receiving critical acclaim for her role in Sex, Lies, and Videotape. She won the Independent Spirit Award for Best Female Lead and was nominated for a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress – Motion Picture Drama for her performance in that film. She was also nominated for Golden Globes for her roles in Green Card and Four Weddings and a Funeral.

Pauline “Paula” Johnston (née Oswald), a music teacher, and Marion St. Pierre MacDowell, a lumber executive, were his parents. Her ancestors come from England, France, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales. Her mother was an alcoholic, and when she was six, her parents divorced. After a year of sobriety, MacDowell’s mother died of a heart attack at the age of 53. Her father remarried when MacDowell was eight years old, this time to the former Mary Frances Stone; this union lasted until his death. MacDowell graduated from Gaffney High School in 1976 and went on to Winthrop University for two years before moving to Columbia, South Carolina for a short time.

The death of John’s ape pal Kala has devastated him. He marries Jane after reuniting with his mentor, Phillippe. One day, he and Jane visit the Natural History Museum in London and come across many caged apes from Africa.
