Minshew secured the role of Kendall Hart on the daytime program All My Children in November 2001, and began filming the following month, following the character’s seven-year absence from the serial opera due to the departure of Sarah Michelle Gellar, who had previously portrayed the character. Minshew played Kendall from the first episode on January 8, 2002, until the series finale on September 23, 2011. She returned to the role on its brief comeback in 2013. In 2004 and 2005, Minshew appeared briefly as Kendall on the daytime soap One Life to Live as part of a baby-swap scenario. Minshew gave birth to her first child in 2009 and took maternity leave just before All My Children moved production to Los Angeles.
Minshew was cast as the lead in the film Desires of the Heart, which began filming in Savannah, Georgia in August 2012. Minshew plays a Georgia artist who falls in love with an Indian psychiatrist and pursues him back to his hometown, where his parents have arranged a marriage with another woman in the new film directed by James Kicklighter.
