Vittert worked as a reporter for WFTV-TV in Orlando, Florida, and anchored the weekend news at KDVR-TV in Denver, Colorado, in the 2000s. He has also worked at KATV-TV in Little Rock, AR, KNWA-TV in Fayetteville, AR, and WMTV-TV in Madison, WI. Vittert was nominated for an Emmy Award as a young reporter for clearing a police officer wrongfully accused of rape.

Vittert said he and his team were beaten after a demonstrator recognized they worked for Fox News in an interview on Cavuto Live the next day.
