Robson worked in a variety of roles during the next four years, including photojournalist assistant and copywriter for an advertising agency. She then went to London on a working trip, where she worked as a journalist and an editorial assistant for a magazine publishing business. She returned to Australia in 1989, after three years in London, to work as an assistant editor and feature writer for Personal Success magazine. Robson joined Seven News as a general news reporter in 1990, but three weeks later she was elevated to presenting news on Tonight Live, which was hosted by comedian Steve Vizard. She also hosted Seven’s Late News and Weekend News bulletins, as well as reporting for the current affairs show Real Life.

Robson appeared on Seven’s The Morning Show with Larry Emdur in September 2009, filling in for Kylie Gillies, who was taking a week off. In December 2014, Naomi was a guest on Network Ten’s Studio 10, this was the first time she had been seen on another Network other than Seven.
