Hadid revealed on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and elsewhere that she was diagnosed with chronic lyme disease in 2012. Chronic lyme disease is not recognized as a real medical condition by scientific medicine and is generally diagnosed and treated only by practitioners who have not completed a science-based medical school program, such as naturopaths and homeopaths.
Hadid revealed in December 2012 that she was having a port implanted in her arm to help treat what she claims is chronic lyme disease. She had the port removed in April 2013. In January 2015, she revealed that she had “lost the ability to read, write, or even watch TV” as a result of the illness she believes she has. Despite the fact that acute Lyme disease is transmitted by the bite of infected Ixodes ticks and does not have a hereditary component, Hadid claims that two of her children have chronic Lyme disease.
