She flees to a forbidden forest with her sisters, Mary and Sarah, where they meet the Mother Witch. The Witch offers them a magic book that warns them not to cast the Magicae Maxima spell, which makes them powerful. The sisters cast a spell that causes Traske’s house to burn down. In 2022, Becca and Izzy, two adolescents preparing for Halloween, visit Gilbert’s magic shop and use a Black Flame Candle to resurrect the witches.
They used the Magicae Maxima spell to assassinate Mayor Jefry Traske and exact their vengeance on modern Salem. The sisters capture Izzy and Becca in the basement and go in search of the mayor, whose blood is required for the spell. Before Mayor Traske goes home, they regroup with Cassie and trap the sisters within a salt circle. Becca distracts the sisters and saves Cassie, and the Book warns them against doing the Magicae Maxima spell, warning that whoever does it must give up their most prized possession as the price for power.
