From 1999 through 2005, Mabrey worked as a CBS News 60 Minutes II correspondent. She formerly worked for WBAL-TV in Baltimore, Maryland, for eight years as a reporter. Mabrey has garnered four Emmy Awards: two in 1997 for her coverage of Princess Diana’s death, and two in 1996 for her coverage of the Atlanta Olympic bombing and the TWA Flight 800 accident. In November 1998, Mabrey was hired as a correspondent for 60 Minutes II. The show launched to critical acclaim in January 1999. Mabrey had been a CBS News correspondent in London since August 1995. She reported from all throughout Europe and the Middle East, including the United Nations arms inspection dilemma in Iraq, the fighting in Northern Ireland, and the ongoing investigation into Princess Diana’s death.
Mabrey joined CBS News as a Dallas-based journalist in 1992, where she covered the Branch Davidian standoff near Waco, Texas, the Great Midwest Flood of 1993, and the Haitian rebellion, among many other notable events. Mabrey worked as a general assignment reporter for WBAL-TV, the then-CBS affiliate in Baltimore, from 1984 to 1992. She began her media career in 1982 as an AFTRA reporter trainee at WUSA-TV, Washington, D.C.’s CBS station.
