Tracy Rowlett is an American journalist who previously worked as an anchor and managing editor for the CBS-owned and operated Dallas-Fort Worth station, KTVT. He started his career as a sports reporter for the Wichita Beacon in Wichita, Kansas. He eventually joined the Air Force and was the editor of the base newspaper.

He started his career as a sports reporter for the Wichita Beacon in Wichita, Kansas. He eventually joined the Air Force and was the editor of the base newspaper. He was eventually assigned to the Wheelus Air Base in Tripoli, where he worked for Armed Forces Radio and Television.
When John F. Kennedy was slain, Rowlett was still stationed in Tripoli and broke the news to that section of the Middle East. Over the next three days and nights, he covered the assassination, Lee Harvey Oswald’s murder, and President Kennedy’s funeral. Rowlett’s last KTVT broadcast aired at 5 p.m. on July 11, 2008. He moved to Shale.TV, a start-up web news service.
Following his military discharge, Rowlett worked at KFH radio and as the news director for KAKE radio and television in Wichita. He went on to become the news director at KMNS in Sioux City, Iowa, and then the State Capitol correspondent for KTOK Radio.
He worked as an investigative reporter for WFAA in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. In 1975, he co-anchored the 6 and 10 p.m. newscasts with Iola Johnson. news. Tracy left WFAA in 1999 to become the main anchor at KTVT (CBS11), where he and Iola teamed up again for the station’s inaugural 4pm newscast from September 2000 to September 2002. Tracy is active in the Dallas/Fort Worth community, serving on various boards for local organizations and receiving numerous community awards for his charitable efforts.
