He did, however, appear as a guest star on multiple occasions (most notably in the second season, to stand in for Rob Sitch, who was combining writing/performing for the program with his studies), and on the album The Satanic Sketches. Gleisner went on to appear in the D-late-eighties Gen’s Triple M radio program (and its spin-off record The Morning Tapes), as well as star in and write for ABC’s The Late Show (1992–1993). He is most known for his work on The Late Show as the newsreader for Late Show News, the co-host of Countdown Classics with Jane Kennedy, and the interviewer of stuntman Rob Sitch in Shitscared, but he featured in a number of other skits (including a recurring role as brainless bush-traveler “Wallaby Jack”).

Gleisner featured as mute detective Poncho on Funky Squad on ABC in 1995, another Working Dog comedy on which he co-created and functioned as a writer/producer/director. Working Dog films Gleisner co-wrote include The Castle (1997), The Dish (2000), and Any Questions for Ben? (2012). He also hosted and co-produced the iconic Network Ten show The Panel (1998–2004). Gleisner also co-hosted the ABC TV fly-fishing documentary A River Anywhere with Rob Sitch (1997–1998).

He also co-wrote and directed Glenn Robbins’ comedy All Australian Adventures (2001-2002, 2004, 2018), was a judge on the improvisational comedy show Thank God You’re Here (2006-2009), and co-wrote/co-produced Working Dog’s The Hollowmen (2008), Utopia (2014-2019), and Pacific Heat (2014-2019). (2016). He is presently a producer for The Cheap Seats and the host of the famous Australian quiz program Have You Been Paying Attention? (2013-present) (2021–present).
