Tom Bradby Career
Bradby has been with ITN, the producer of ITV News, since 1990, when he began as an editorial trainee. In 1992, he became a producer for ITV’s political editor Michael Brunson. Bradby was ITV’s Ireland correspondent from 1993 to 1996, covering events such as the Northern Ireland peace process, the IRA ceasefire, and Bill Clinton’s visit to Ireland in November 1995. Bradby went on to work as ITV’s Asia correspondent from 1999 to 2001. He was injured in October 1999 while covering riots in Jakarta against newly elected President Abdurrahman Wahid.
Bradby returned to the United Kingdom and began a career as a royal correspondent, covering a variety of important stories such as Queen Elizabeth II’s Golden Jubilee and the deaths of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret. He later rose through the ranks to become UK editor and then political editor, which he assumed in 2005.
After Prince William and Kate Middleton’s engagement was announced, Bradby conducted the couple’s first official interview at St James’s Palace on November 16, 2010. According to reports, Bradby was specifically chosen to conduct the interview due to his long-standing friendship with Prince William. He later attended their wedding as a guest. After the Megxit scandal, it was reported in 2021 that Prince William had cut Bradby off for “siding with Harry.”

He led ITV News’ live coverage of the 2020 US Presidential Election from Washington, D.C. in November 2020. Bradby and Julie Etchingham co-hosted ITV’s coverage of Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh’s funeral on April 17, 2021.
