He took over as host of the ABC shows America’s Funniest Home Videos in February 2001. Bergeron revealed on Twitter in March 2014 that he will not be presenting America’s Funniest Home Videos after season 25. Bergeron’s final America’s Funniest Home Videos program aired on May 17, 2015. Alfonso Ribeiro took his position.
Bergeron narrated the footage in a hilarious manner, replacing the circular video wall with a curved video wall, altering the color of the pillars to blue, and adding curved light borders hanging around the set. The series began enabling fans to contribute their amusing home films online at ABC.com beginning with the 2007-2008 season, but has since the 2012-2013 season. On May 22, 2016, Bergeron made his first studio appearance on Ribiero’s AFV’s season 26 “Grand Prize Extravaganza” finale, when he played the show’s last on-air audience participation game “Who Breaks It?” and won a Ribiero AFV pillow and socks. On Sunday, December 8, 2019, he made his second AFV guest appearance to commemorate AFV’s 30th anniversary.
