She drove across the country the day after graduation to Los Angeles to work as an intern on Spike Jonze’s first feature film, Harold and The Purple Crayon. After the film was canceled, her first paid job was as a casting assistant on the Mark Medoff film Santa Fe. Here, she channeled her inspirations into writing. She worked as an assistant to actor Jere Burns on Something So Right after Santa Fe wrapped. Here, Wood was completely immersed in the world of television. Every day, she worked on the Universal Studios backlot, where the show was shot alongside Just Shoot Me.

She started writing television specs and got a literary agent. She worked in development for Harold Ramis’ production company Ocean Pictures at Fox Studios. She was also employed by Jim Cameron’s Lightstorm Entertainment. Wood was hired as a staff writer in 2000 to help launch G4, the first television network dedicated to gamers. She was the network’s head writer, contributing to a variety of shows including Icons, Sweat, Cheat, and several specials. She also hosted and produced the interactive gaming show G4tv.com. She previously worked alongside Laura Foy, Geoff Keighley, and Scot Rubin in this capacity. Wood’s gamertag on the show was T-Dub.

Wood announced on her personal blog on December 12, 2005, that G4tv.com had been cancelled by G4, and that the series’ final episode would be filmed on December 17, 2005. Wood later appeared on G4’s Attack of the Show as a guest correspondent and game news commentator on occasion.
