Baltz met Jordan Klepper at The Second City in Chicago, where he started his comedic training. He received a Joseph Jefferson Award for his performance in Sky’s The Limit Weather (Weather Permitting), which was the 35th revue of Second City e.t.c. in 2011.

He received additional training at Chicago’s iO Theater. He was a frequent guest on Veep, Better Call Saul, Parks and Recreation, and the Comedy Central series Drunk History. In the Seeso series Bajillion Dollar Propertie$, he too portrayed a realtor.

Alongside Ted Tremper, he co-created the comedy TV series Shrink, whose pilot won “Best Comedy Pilot” and the “Critics Award” at the New York Television Festival. NBC gave the go-ahead to turn it into a complete series in 2016, and it debuted on Seeso in March of 2017. In the show, Baltz plays David Tracey, a recent medical school graduate who chooses to become a therapist after failing to get a residency.
