Caleb, her son, was diagnosed with a life-threatening brain tumor in July 2017. She described her son’s tragic, courageous, and miraculous journey. In an interview, she said that her husband Greg called on a weekday morning in early April saying that, their son Caleb had woken up screaming about a headache, then vomited and went back to sleep. That had never happened before and Greg was ready to head for the doctor’s office when Caleb woke up and said he felt fine. She is a licensed meteorologist and one of just a few women in the country to hold both the American Meteorological Society’s CBM (AMS) Certified Broadcast Meteorology Seal of Approval and the National Weather Association’s NWA Seal of Approval. Both seals indicate the greatest level of skill in delivering complicated weather, water, science, and climate information, as well as stringent educational requirements in atmospheric science.

Tammie is happy to be returning in Chicago, where she previously worked for NBC 5 and FOX 32. She’s also worked as the Chief Meteorologist at WCAU in Philadelphia, as the Chief Meteorologist at WTSP in Tampa/St Petersburg, and as a weekday meteorologist at WDJT in Milwaukee.
