Erin began acting and modeling at the age of eight, after becoming an Elite Model through Elite Model Management. Erin studied method acting, singing, dancing, and gymnastics. Erin grew up in Wheaton, Illinois, but when she was nine years old, her family relocated to Miami, Fla. When Erin was eleven years old, she auditioned for the role of Pippi Longstocking and was chosen above 8,000 other girls. The film’s director, Ken Annakin, said her disposition was a natural fit for the role: “Tami emanates sunshine. When she grins, everyone is pleased. “She’s Pippi Longstocking.” Erin also appears in the “Chrimbus Special” episode of Tim & Eric’s Awesome Show, Great Job!.

Tami Erin was selected as UNICEF’s United Nations Ambassador in 1988. Highlights included addressing delegates from over 100 countries in the general assembly hall of the United Nations in New York City on World Children’s Day.
