While in school, she performed with the College-Conservatory of Music, the Cincinnati Ballet, and the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 2008 with a degree in musical theatre. She attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts and the Upright Citizens Brigade. Morton portrayed a recurrent character in Spike Lee’s She’s Gotta Have It. She played opposite Octavia Spencer in the Netflix drama Self Made: Inspired by the Life of Madam C. J. Walker. She had a recurring role on NBC’s Manifest. In 2021, she was cast as Meghan Markle, opposite Jordan Dean, in the title roles of Lifetime’s Harry and Meghan: Escaping The Palace.

She was a swing in the original Broadway cast of Memphis, covering eight tracks or roles that included both white and black performers.
