He had two half-sisters, Shelly Grabinsky and Kathryn Harvey. On January 1, 2006, Kathryn was murdered in Richmond, Virginia, along with her husband, Bryan, and their two daughters, Stella and Ruby.

Steven Culp Career

Culp made his film debut in Jason Goes to Hell: The Final Friday (1993) as Robert Campbell, a reporter investigating the Jason murders. In James and the Giant Peach, he also played the main character’s father. Culp made a brief appearance as Brian Hamilton on The Young and the Restless in 1995. Culp is best known for his recurrent performances on JAG (1997-2004) as CIA Agent Clayton Webb and Major Hayes on Star Trek: Enterprise (2003-2004). His characters in both series were killed off in their respective season finales the same week, while Culp’s character in JAG resurfaced in the series’ ensuing season premiere. Culp starred as Secret Service agent Ted Simmons in a couple of episodes of 24’s second season in 2003.

Culp portrayed Robert F. Kennedy in two films: Norma Jean & Marilyn (HBO, 1996) and Thirteen Days (2000).   In Star Trek: Nemesis (2002), he played Commander Martin Madden, a character created to replace William Riker as the Enterprise’s first officer. However, due to the film’s length, Culp’s parts were deleted from the final version. His scenes as Madden can be viewed in the deleted scenes from the Nemesis DVD. Culp appeared as Major Hayes, the head of the M.A.C.O.s, in the third season of Star Trek: Enterprise. Hayes was shot protecting a fellow crewmember in five episodes: “The Xindi”, “The Shipment”, “Harbinger”, “Hatchery”, and “Countdown”. Other roles include taking up the principal role of photographer Richard Stewart.

Culp appeared for one season as Rex Van de Kamp in the ABC comedy-drama series Desperate Housewives from 2004 to 2005. His character was killed at the end of the season, but Culp appeared in flashback scenes and as the narrator in one season 3 episode. As Special Agent in Charge Fred Chambers, he was a regular cast member in the ABC short-lived series Traveler in 2007. In the years since, Culp has appeared as a guest star on a variety of shows, including NCIS, The Closer, Criminal Minds, Body of Proof, How to Get Away with Murder, Dynasty, American Horror Story: 1984, and 9-1-1. In the 2010 film The Chicago 8, he played Thomas Foran. Culp had recurrent roles on Grey’s Anatomy as Dr. Darren Parker.
