She was motivated to seek a career in radio by Sounds marketing manager Shaun Joyce, so she applied to radio school and went on to study broadcasting at the NZ Radio Training School in Wellington.

Casey began her broadcasting career in June 2005 at More FM Wairarapa, where she co-hosted the breakfast program with Brent Gare and ran promotions for More FM, Solid Gold, and RadioLive. After receiving the promotion Quit Your Day Job, she began working at The Edge in April 2006. Until the end of 2010, she cohosted the nightshow with Brad Watson. In 2011, she began reading the news on The Breakfast Show with Jay Jay Mike and Dom, as well as anchoring the weekday show from midday to 3 p.m. and serving as music director. She began appearing on Four Live in 2012, before co-hosting it with Shannon Ryan in 2013.

After stepping in on The Edge’s breakfast program with Guy Williams and Clint Roberts at the end of 2013, they began hosting The Edge Afternoons with Guy, Sharyn, and Clint and The Edge Fat 40 with Guy, Sharyn, and Clint in 2014. This lasted until the end of 2016, when Williams and Roberts parted ways with The Edge, with the latter going to sister station George FM to host the breakfast show.
