Career

His comedic material is intentionally confrontational, frequently referencing LGBT life and culture, politics, race and racism, and popular culture. In 1994, Capurro received the Perrier Award for Best Newcomer at the Edinburgh Festival. Capurro co-starred with actor, comedian, and friend Greg Proops in the 1999 film Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace as Beed Annodue. In 2001, Capurro performed on the Australian show Rove Live and surprised the host, Rove McManus, with an explicit routine. McManus apologized immediately following the performance.Capurro broadcast The Truth on Gay Animals, a lighthearted documentary on homosexuality in animals, on Channel 4 in the United Kingdom in 2002. Capurro visited numerous collections of caged animals to observe species that were reported. The show also featured an interview with anti-gay rights activist and politician Janet Young, in which Capurro showed Young a video of a variety of male-male intercourse and female-female mating attempts in various animal species and asked her to comment on whether this influenced her views on their “unnaturalness”.

Capurro has appeared frequently on Radio Alice’s Sarah & Vinnie’s Morning Show on 97.3FM KLLC San Francisco. He was also a regular panelist on his pal Matthew Wright’s topical discussion show, The Wright Stuff. Capurro is overseen by comedy agency The Comedy Bar. From May to June 2008, Capurro played Sammy in Joe DiPietro’s play Fucking Men in London, England.
