Rusty’s commitment to the town has earned him a reputation as one of the most well-liked and well-known residents. He has served on the United Way and the American Red Cross boards of directors. For more than a quarter-century, he has relentlessly led Project Tornado, a 16-county school weather safety program, and is in constant demand to talk to tens of thousands of students in school districts.
Every year, he serves as the local chairman for the US Marine Corps’ “Toys For Tots” Christmas campaign. Rusty is a Masonic fraternity member that is quite active. In September of 2017, the Supreme Council of the Scottish Rite awarded him the 33rd degree. In 2007, Rusty was installed as the District Deputy Grand Master of The Grand Lodge of Texas.
