Rock Harper Hell’s Kitchen
In 2007, he appeared in the third season of the Fox reality show Hell’s Kitchen. He won Hell’s Kitchen and took the prize of a high-paying job as head chef at Green Valley Ranch Resort’s Terre Verde Restaurant. Hell’s Kitchen is an American reality food competition show that debuted on Fox on May 30, 2005. Celebrity chef Gordon Ramsay, who originated and starred in the British series of the same name, hosts the show. During each season, two teams of chefs compete for the position of head chef in a restaurant while working in the kitchen of a restaurant put up in the television studio.
Over the course of each season, a progressive elimination method reduces a field of 20 to 12 contenders to a single winner. In a normal show, two candidates are nominated for elimination, and Ramsay then chooses one of the nominated individuals to be eliminated. The series is notable for Ramsay’s explosive rage toward participants, which is extensively dramatized for the audience’s advantage.
Hell’s Kitchen has received six Primetime Emmy nominations. Inspired by the show, a chain of Gordon Ramsay Hell’s Kitchen restaurants has opened. Rock Harper Career
After winning Hell’s Kitchen and accepting the award of a high-paying job as head chef at Green Valley Ranch Resort’s Terre Verde Restaurant, he became the March of Dimes’ National Celebrity Chef. Following his year at Terra Verde, he went on to work as executive chef at Ben’s Next Door and The Carlyle Club.
Harper went on to teach at Stratford University. Harper competed on Chef Wanted with Anne Burrell in 2013 and won the executive chef post at The Precinct, a steakhouse in Cincinnati, Ohio; however, he did not accept the position.
As a tribute to his mother, Carole Harper, Harper created Queen Mother’s Fried Chicken within Ghostline in Washington, DC in 2020. The restaurant was transferred to The Kitchen of Purpose in Arlington, Virginia, a year later. The restaurant is famous for its duck-fat brined fried chicken, which has appeared on television shows such as Hell’s Kitchen and Sherri.
