Rob Mariano Survivor
Mariano was reported to contend in Survivor: Following his previous performance on Survivor, All-Stars: Marquesas. Mariano joined Amber Brkich as soon as he was assigned to the Chapera tribe. Together, they were able to successfully negotiate deals with contestants who wouldn’t honor them and form an alliance with Jenna Lewis and Rupert Boneham to eliminate larger targets. Mariano was praised for his aggressive gameplay when he got to the final tribal council, but he was slammed for using his relationships with contestants outside of the game to his advantage. On May 9, 2004, preceding the votes were reported, Mariano proposed to Brkich which she acknowledged. By a 4–3 vote, Mariano lost the season.
Mariano was disqualified from Survivor: In the sixth episode, “Banana Etiquette,” the All-Stars His conflict with Russell Hantz and their divergent perspectives on the game were the main focus of his storyline. In order to get rid of Hantz, Mariano appealed to Coach Wade’s sense of honesty and integrity. Although Coach ultimately sided with Mariano, he was torn between supporting Hantz and Mariano.
Mariano was announced to participate in his fourth season of Survivor on January 13, 2011: Island of Salvation. Along with Grant Mattos, Natalie Tenerelli, Matt Elrod, and Ashley Underwood, he formed a majority alliance. Due to Phillip Sheppard’s abrasive and unpredictable nature, Mariano formed an alliance with an outsider and eliminated opponents with relative ease. On May 15, 2011, it was made public that an 8-to-1 vote had chosen him to win the season. Mariano’s game was called the “most perfect game of Survivor ever” by Jeff Probst.
For the 39th season, Mariano and his former co-star Sandra Diaz-Twine played mentors to a new group of castaways. Mariano and Diaz-Twine lived together on a separate beach from the game, where they were unable to vote or participate in challenges. At times, one player would visit to receive instruction on the various aspects of Survivor. In addition, they would secretly attend each Tribal Council. On the morning of Day 37, Mariano and Diaz-Twine withdrew from the eponymous Island of the Icons leaving a rich safe house and supplies for the last five castaways of the time.
Survivor’s winner was Mariano: The Idols’ Island. He was assigned to the Sele tribe, where he joined Parvati Shallow and Ethan Zohn to form an “Old-School” Alliance. After that, Mariano was moved to the Yara tribe, where he was the sixth person to be eliminated by vote. He cast a 12-4-0 vote in favor of Tony Vlachos, who went on to win the season. Mariano became the first Survivor contestant to play for a fifth time with this season.

Mariano began the roadblock challenge in Mendoza, Argentina, but quickly realized he would not or could not eat that amount of meat. Mariano banded together with a few other racers to bribe the bus driver into allowing the teams that contributed earlier to go first. They eventually came in second place, trailing married couple Uchenna and Joyce.
