Wickham Career
Wickham launched his full-time music career with a California tour and the recording of his debut album. After releasing his first album, Give You My World, in 2003, Wickham signed with Simple Records. Wickham debuted his self-titled label debut in 2006. Wickham’s second Simple/INO Records album, Cannons, was released in 2007. Cannons were inspired by both cannon explosions and C. S. Lewis’s book The Voyage of the Dawn Treader from The Chronicles of Narnia series. In an interview with ChristianityToday.com, Wickham explained that the album is “about how the universe is exploding with the glory of God, and how we are called to join in with its singing.” Cannons’ eighth track, “Jesus Lord of Heaven,” has been translated into seven additional languages.
Heaven & Earth, Wickham’s third studio album, was released on November 17, 2009. Wickham’s Christmas CD Songs for Christmas was released as a digital download on his website on October 29, 2010. Wickham’s fourth full-length studio album, Response, was released on October 4, 2011. On October 30, 2012, Phil Wickham released Singalong 2, his second live acoustic CD. The Ascension, Wickham’s fifth studio album, was released on September 24, 2013. Wickham’s album debuted at No. 39 on the Billboard 200, making it his most successful album to date. “This Is Amazing Grace,” the album’s lead track, peaked at No. 1 on the Christian Airplay Songs chart at the end of 2014.
