Oliver Peyton OBE is a television personality and restaurateur from Ireland who also serves as a judge on the BBC’s Great British Menu. Peyton has been one of the three judges on the Great British Menu since its debut on BBC2 in 2006.

Peyton remarked on Channel 4 News on February 8, 2013, that Ireland was “an airport for meat” in response to a query regarding the quality of retail meat products. He stated that he would never purchase Irish beef, stating that meat labeled as Irish was most likely originated in Indonesia.

“To me, British food is about having British ham, it’s about having British produce,” he told the Great British Chefs website in 2015. We used to have trucks driving to the market in Paris when I first started in this business because we couldn’t acquire produce. Chefs are now lot more adventurous in terms of what they can do with produce from their own country. “It’s not about shepherd’s pie in Britain; it’s about how chefs use the food that comes out of the ground.”
