His spaceship, the Zoic, crashes on Earth, and he discovers a survivor, Koa, who is unable to speak owing to language differences. They meet Earth’s dinosaurs and form bonds while protecting Koa.
A gigantic carnivorous reptile, an Oviraptor, and a raptor-like monster assault them. Mills kills the Oviraptor and flees, but while looking for Koa, he falls into quicksand. They make it to the evacuation shuttle, but the asteroid debris causes it to crash down the mountain. They come into a pair of marauding Tyrannosaurus rex, but Mills kills both of them. A quadruped predator is blinded by Koa and then burns to death in a geyser. They escape in time, resulting in a cataclysmic event and the extinction of dinosaurs. The couple takes off into space, and the story concludes with Earth’s evolution from an ice age to the present day.
