Verreos was born in Panama to a Greek father and a Panamanian mother. Despite being born in St. Louis, Missouri, he spent his childhood in Caracas, Venezuela. Verreos’ father was a United States State Department diplomat in Panama when he met Verreos’ mother. Arnulfo Arias, his mother’s great uncle, was president of Panama three times. When he was 10, Verreos and his family returned to the United States, where he completed elementary and high school in San Francisco, California. Verreos published A Passion for Fashion: Achieving Your Fashion Dreams One Thread at a Time in August 2016. The book was co-written with partner David Paul, and the foreword was written by Project Runway mentor and New York Times bestselling author Tim Gunn. Gayle Anderson of KTLA covered the Los Angeles book launch and signing on August 23, 2016. The Barnes & Noble at FIT hosted the New York book launch and signing on September 9, 2016. As the title suggests, the text is intended for anyone, young or old, who wants to work in the fashion industry.

Nick Verreos Project Runway

Verreos began to appear on screen as a “red carpet” fashion commentator after his Project Runway appearances (see below). He hosted three fashion segments on E! Countdown to the Academy Awards in February 2008, and he covered the red carpet arrivals for the Daytime Emmy Awards in June 2008 and the Primetime Emmy Awards in September 2008. In 2012 and 2013, Verreos was a regular panelist on TV Guide Network’s Fashion Wrap, which covered the Oscars, Grammys, Golden Globes, Emmy Awards, and Screen Actors Guild Awards.

Verreos appeared on the second season of Project Runway in 2005. In the third episode, he won the “All Dolled Up” challenge, in which designers had to design a dress for the My Scene Barbie collection. The doll was later marketed to the general public in limited quantities and quickly sold out in stores. After the Makeover Challenge, in which he was tasked with designing a fashion makeover for fellow contestant Daniel Vosovic, he was eliminated. Verreos competed on Project Runway Season 2 and served as a mentor on the show’s first spin-off, Under the Gunn. He has also appeared as a guest judge and commentator on the show during various seasons. Verreos began his 13th season of blogging on Lifetime’s official Project Runway website in September 2016.
