Velázquez has appeared in print advertisements, television commercials, and films. Her first acting role was as a drive-through lady in a McDonald’s commercial. She was cast as Fernando Sucre’s girlfriend, Maricruz Delgado, in the Fox television series Prison Break, but instead played Catalina Aruca in the NBC series My Name Is Earl. Her first film roles were in War, starring Jet Li and Jason Statham, and Husband for Hire, an Oxygen Network original television film. She appeared in the 2006 monologue show Skirts & Flirts as one of the actors. She was ranked 39th on Maxim’s annual Hot 100 list. Velazquez served as a judge in the Miss Universe beauty pageant in 2008 and as the host of the Miss USA pageant in 2009.
Velazquez appeared as Gloria Martinez, one of Charlie’s hired “Angels,” in the pilot episode of ABC’s Charlie’s Angels in 2011. Her character was killed off after only a few minutes on screen, and Minka Kelly took her place. She had recurring roles on The CW’s comedy-drama Hart of Dixie and FX’s fantasy football sitcom The League.
