In an attempt to generate Oscar excitement, Mackenzie gets a New York Times piece about Cary’s life.
When the New York Times writer requests to meet with Cary’s pals, Cary finds he doesn’t have any. Brooke is desperate to show that Lance hired a PR for his People Magazine appearance. She breaks into Lance’s apartment wearing prosthetics to examine his emails, but finds no evidence. Brooke accidentally causes a fire while attempting to escape the flat discreetly; Lance successfully evacuates everyone within. Brooke is pleased to learn that Chase’s mental health telethon won a Peabody Award. Pat forms a bond with her friend’s children while in Ohio.
