Mike Seidel The Weather Channel (TWC) – Career

Since 1992, he has been an active meterologist for The Weather Channel in Atlanta. Mike first felt compelled to investigate climate change weather when he was six years old. Mike took snowfall measurements in his hometown of Salisbury, Maryland. He then proceeded to build a weather station on the roof that he and his parents shared. Seidel spends the majority of his free time in high school working for four different radio stations, including WJDY AM in Salisbury, WDMV in Pocomoke County, and WKHI FM during the summer. Mike began his professional career at WMDT in early 1982, after earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in Meteorology.

In 1989, he was appointed to work as the chief meteorologist for WYFF News in Greenville, South Carolina. In 1992, Mike let WYFF and joined The Weather Channel as the main meterologist. At TWC, Seidel gained national recognition for his consistent reports on various ice storms, hurricanes and other tornado outbreaks that happened across the United States and Atlanta. He even reported live from the PGA Tour, the Baseball All-Star Game and the World Series. Additionally, Mike has appeared on NBC Nightly News, CBS Tea Early Show, CBS Sunday Morning and Nightline while he was still working for The Weather Channel.
