Cudlitz got the position of Band of Brothers while attending the California Institute of the Arts and worked in TV and film production in the art department of numerous series. On Beverly Hills, 90210, Cudlitz worked as a construction coordinator. His first acting job was as Scottie in the 1989 film Crystal Ball. Tony Miller on Beverly Hills, 90210 and Tad Overton on Dragon: The Bruce Lee Story, as well as CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, the second seasons of 24, Lost, the FOX series Standoff, and Prison Break, were among his other appearances. He also appeared in the film A River Runs Through It. He appeared as a guest star on Over There. In the 1997 film Grosse Pointe Blank, he played Bob Destepello.
His breakthrough performance was as Sgt. Denver “Bull” Randleman in the World War II miniseries Band of Brothers in 2001. Cudlitz had a big mole removed from his right upper lip, which had previously been a characteristic element of his appearance, before the start of filming for the show. Cudlitz played Colonel Brendon in the 2009 science fiction film Surrogates. Cudlitz starred in the 2013 film Dark Tourist alongside Melanie Griffith. He played Sergeant Abraham Ford, a character from the comic book series of the same name, in the AMC TV drama The Walking Dead. His first appearance was in the tenth episode of Season 4, “Inmates,” which aired on October 10, 2014.
