Laurie and Josh Kinal co-hosted Enough Rope on 3RRR in 2000. This was a weekly comedy show that featured comedic tracks, a look at the comedy industry, and interviews with a variety of guests, including Wil Anderson, Daniel Kitson, Simon Munnery, and Rachel Berger. Adam Richard and Toby Sullivan were regulars on the show. By the end of 2002, the show was controversially discontinued.
Laurie presented Stand Up!, an ABC TV comedy show, in 2004. She has appeared on the national variety show Rove Live. Laurie has been on The Glass House, Spicks and Specks, Good News Week, ADbc, The Circle, Studio 10, The Project, and Hughesy, We Have a Problem, among other shows.
Laurie joined Nova 106.9 in Brisbane in 2005 as a founding breakfast presenter on Meshel, Ash, Kip, and Luttsy, which quickly became Brisbane’s highest-rated breakfast program. Throughout the years, Ash, Kip, and Luttsy left, and new presenters such as Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold joined Laurie. Meshel, Tim, and Marty continued in breakfast until August 2011, when the show was relocated to Melbourne and began broadcasting nationwide on Drive on Nova FM.
Laurie co-hosted This Week Live with Dave Thornton, Tommy Little, and Tom Gleeson in 2013. In October 2013, Nova 100 announced that she will co-host Meshel & Tommy with Tommy Little, taking over for Hughesy & Kate. The show premiered in December of 2013. Laurie was replaced on the drive by Kate Ritchie in January 2014, joining Tim Blackwell and Marty Sheargold. Meshel revealed in October 2015 that she will be departing Nova 100 at the end of the year to co-host Matt & Meshel on KIIS 101.1 with Matt Tilley. She also co-hosted the KIIS Network’s 3PM Pick-Up with Katie ‘Monty’ Dimond. The Australian Radio Network stated in October 2017 that Matt & Meshel will not be renewed in 2018.
Laurene returned to radio in January 2021, anchoring Breakfast with Adam Straney and Damien Leith on Wave FM in Wollongong while Jade Tonta is on maternity leave. Laurie released CSI Told You Lies: Giving Victims a Voice Through Forensics in August 2021.
