Masi Oka is a Japanese actor, producer, and digital effects artist best known for her roles  on NBC’s Heroes and on CBS’s Hawaii Five-0.

He is 48 years old as of 27 December 2022. He was born in 1974 in Shibuya City, Tokyo, Japan.

Masi Oka Family – Education

His parents divorced when he was a month old; he was raised as a single parent and has never met his father. He and his mother moved to Los Angeles from Japan when he was six years old. Oka studied at Brown University, where he was the musical director of the all-male a cappella group The Bear Necessities. He earned a BS in computer science and mathematics with a minor in theater arts in 1997. Oka’s first job after graduation was at Industrial Light & Magic, George Lucas’ motion picture visual special effects company, where he hoped to one day win an Oscar for technical work on a film.

He played Dr. Max Bergman on the Hawaii Five-0. Dr. Max Bergman is a physician who also serves as the Chief Medical Examiner for the Honolulu Police Department and the Hawaii Five-0 Task Force. Max Takeshita, the son of Machiyo Takeshita, was given up for adoption by his birth mother and later adopted by the Bergmans. Deacon MacKenna, also known as the Trashman, murdered his real mother. Max had no idea that his mother would return for him years later, wanting to know how he was and where he was now that she had her life together and could care for him.

Max’s interactions are a little awkward. He has a habit of taking rhetorical questions literally and sometimes providing far too much information. He enjoys pop culture and brings it up frequently during his interactions with the team. It even organizes a movie night for the team, inviting everyone via email, but ignores those who do not respond. When working in the lab, Max usually wears a lab coat, and when working on a crime scene, he wears dark blue overalls. He wears glasses and has short black hair. He began walking with a short black walking stick after being shot at the end of Season 2. In Ohuna, episode seven of the third season, he stopped using his walking stick.

Masi Oka Heroes

He plays Hiro Nakamura, a former computer programmer for Yamagato Industries & a main character of Heroes on Heroes. Hiro succeeded his late father as CEO of the company, but he delegated the job to his sister, as she had always desired. Hiro is a higher-level human with the ability to bend space and time. Hiro attempted to use his power to right all the wrongs in his life after learning that he was dying. However, this came back to haunt him before the situation was resolved in the form of a fictitious courtroom case involving various important figures in his life. Hiro was cured of his life-threatening condition and learned to leave certain things alone as a result of this experience.
