Marysol Castro Career

Castro previously worked as a general assignment reporter for WPIX in New York. She was a reporter for News 12, a Bronx-based cable news network. She was an English teacher at Poly Prep Country Day School in Brooklyn for a short time. Castro departed GMA Weekend in September 2010. Castro replaced Dave Price as the weekday weather forecaster for The Early Show on CBS on January 3, 2011, as part of a total show revamp. On September 2, 2011, she stated that she will be leaving her position as weather anchor with immediate effect.

Castro joined WTNH-TV ABC 8 in New Haven, Connecticut, in June 2015 as a weekday morning traffic reporter and anchor. In November 2015, Castro was dismissed of her fill-in duties and later quit the station. She joined ESPN as the host of Premier Boxing Champions in July 2015.

On May 30, 2018, Castro was chosen the New York Mets’ new public address announcer at Citi Field, replacing Alex Anthony, who was fired the same year. On weekends, she shares PA duties with daily announcer Colin Cosell (grandson of Howard Cosell). Castro made his debut on May 31, 2018, against the Chicago Cubs. Castro is the Mets’ first female public address announcer. She returned to WPIX as a weekday morning news anchor in 2023.
