Curry made his debut in the 1991 feature picture Talkin’ Dirty After Dark, co-starring Martin Lawrence. Curry’s first notable role was on ABC’s sitcom Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, which premiered in September 1992. On the sitcom, he played Mark Cooper, an NBA player who became a substitute teacher and gym coach. Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper aired for five seasons, totaling over one hundred episodes. Curry appeared on the sitcom Living Single in 1994 as a guest star. In 1997, he made another appearance on the sitcom Martin. Curry later appeared in two episodes of The Jamie Foxx Show as the quirky driving instructor Sergeant Easy. Curry also made cameos in the 1997 film Switchback and the 1998 film Armageddon.

Curry played Robert Soulard, Drew Carey’s employer, on The Drew Carey Show on a recurring basis in 2000, he also hosted the Comedy Central game show Don’t Forget Your Toothbrush and appeared as a guest on the comedy For Your Love alongside his Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper co-star Holly Robinson Peete. Curry went on to play the lead in The Poof Point, a Disney Channel Original Movie about scientist Norton Ballard. Curry was reunited with Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper co-star Dawnn Lewis, who played his on-screen wife Marigold. Curry hosted both the PAX-TV show Animal Tails and BET’s Coming to the Stage in 2003. In 2004, he appeared on Celebrity Mole Yucatan. He finished second to Dennis Rodman.

Curry was on an episode of Less Than Perfect in 2005, and he played Max Cooper in two episodes of Fat Actress. Curry returned to the sitcom House of Payne in an episode from 2008. Curry performed a stand-up comedy set on The Comedy Festival Laffapalooza Special, hosted by Tracy Morgan, on November 30, 2008. Curry hosted Jamie Foxx’s FoxxHole Live every Monday at the Conga Room in Los Angeles from 2009 to 2011, which was broadcast on Sirius 106/XM 149. Curry took part in the Royal Comedy Tour in 2012, alongside Sommore, Earthquake, Bruce Bruce, and Tony Rock. He later appeared in two episodes of “The Secret Life of the American Teenager.”

Curry also appeared in Nick At Nite’s first original live-action family sitcom, See Dad Run, which premiered in 2012, as Marcus, a friend of Scott Baio’s character. See Dad Run aired for three seasons on the network. Curry appeared on Sommore’s Standing Ovation Comedy Tour in 2014, alongside Bill Bellamy, Tommy Davidson, and other performers. That same year, Bounce TV premiered the sitcom One Love, which starred Curry and Sheryl Lee Ralph. Curry performed as a special guest on Katt Williams’ 11:11 Tour in 2018.
