Morash began cooking when her husband, Russell Morash, was producing The French Chef and would bring home partially-cooked dishes used as swap-outs on the show, along with instructions from the show’s host, Julia Child, on how to finish the dishes. Morash opened the Straight Wharf restaurant in Nantucket, Massachusetts, in 1975. Morash assisted in the launch of the WGBH gardening show Crocket’s Victory Garden, hosted by James Underwood Crockett, in 1975; she served as the show’s on-air chef, demonstrating how to use the vegetables grown by Crockett. Her husband produced the show. Morash took over as host after Crockett died in 1979, and the show was renamed The Victory Garden and eventually Victory Garden’s Edible Feast; the show ended in 2015. Knopf published Morash’s The Victory Garden Cookbook in 1982. The book went on to become a best-seller. In their review of her subsequent The Victory Garden Fish and Vegetable Cookbook, Publishers Weekly stated that the first book was a “strong success.” According to UPI, it is “a vegetable encylopedia for cooks who garden and gardeners who cook.” Morash was named to the James Beard Who’s Who of Food and Beverage in America in 1984.
