Bernardin worked as an intern aboard Deep Space Nine. He worked on the Syfy series Alphas, Hulu’s Castle Rock, based on Stephen King’s stories, USA Network’s Treadstone, based on the Jason Bourne franchise, and Amazon Prime’s fantasy series Carnival Row. He has written comic books for Marvel, DC Comics, Image Comics, and a number of smaller companies. He co-created the DC comic book series The Highwaymen, which is being adapted into a blockbuster film feature. He co-hosts the Fatman Beyond podcast with filmmaker Kevin Smith and The Battlestar Galacticast podcast with Tricia Helfer. Bernardin received an Inkpot Award in 2018, an accolade bestowed annually by Comic-Con International since 1974.

Bernardin joined other WGA writers in sacking their agents in 2019 as part of the WGA’s opposition to the ATA and the practice of packaging. Bernardin was revealed as the writer for Masters of the Universe: Revelation on Netflix on August 18, 2019.
