Kelley’s first major acting job came in the 2002 film Antwone Fisher, when he played the main character as a toddler. Prior to this, he played in various minor television parts on shows including Malcolm in the Middle and Judging Amy. His second film job was in You Got Served, when he played the supporting character Lil’ Saint.
In 2004, he was cast as Walt in the television series Lost. He was a regular cast member in the show’s first season (2004-2005), but after that, he only appeared on occasion due to a huge growth spurt. He reappeared for a cameo in “Through the Looking Glass”, Lost’s third season finale, and twice again in the fourth season, with the episodes “Meet Kevin Johnson”
Following his departure from the main cast of Lost, Kelley starred in a number of television roles, notably the recurring character Benjamin Cooley on Saving Grace. In 2010, he played the protagonist character Finn on TeenNick’s Gigantic. The series was discontinued after one season in 2011. In 2014, he played himself and Tony Oller on The Thundermans as MKTO. In 2017, he starred as Black in True to the Game and Michael Clark in Detroit.
In 2012, Kelley and his former Gigantic co-star Tony Oller established the pop group MKTO. They were signed with Columbia Records. Kelley collaborated with Celine Dion on the song “Save Your Soul” for Dion’s late 2013 release “Loved Me Back to Life”. However, their duet version was only available on the album’s vinyl version. The standard version of Save Your Soul just features Dion’s voice. The duo’s debut album, self-titled, was released on April 1, 2014. Their track “Classic” was a significant smash in the summer of 2014, peaking at number 14 on the Billboard Hot 100.
