Luis Guzmán Code Black

He plays Jesse Sallander, the senior nurse in charge of the residents at Angels Memorial Hospital in Code Black. He had a brother named Jose, but when he was brought into Angels, he died from injuries sustained when a structure fell on him and his fiancée. His best friend is Leanne Rorish. In the Angels Memorial ER, Jesse is a loving and affable—but no-nonsense—presence. He’s Leanne’s “Mama” to her “Daddy.” He is the senior nurse in charge of the incoming residents and takes his job extremely seriously.

Jesse keeps a watch on everything that happens in the ER and somehow knows where he’s needed before he’s summoned. While Jesse can be amusing and lighthearted, he doesn’t sugarcoat anything and isn’t afraid to provide a dose of truth when necessary. Jesse is a fantastic nurse who has seen it all—and he is always ready with the right piece of advice to help the residents prepare for their next challenge. Jesse is also Leanne’s best friend and the only relative she has. Leanne would be the first to inform him that, at times, Jesse would benefit much by listening to his own excellent advice.

He appeared as Luis in the American sitcom Luis. The series, which was scheduled in the Friday night death slot, earned mediocre ratings and was terminated after four episodes. The series was the first to be canceled during the 2003-04 season.
