Lu has six Emmys to her name for her work in television. She has also received two Genesis Awards from the Humane Society of the United States for her outstanding reporting and creative depictions of animal protection issues, such as investigations into puppy mills, elephant abuse, and beagle lab testing. She can be seen anchoring and reporting the news on KTLA Channel 5 in Los Angeles, California.
