Bang-Jensen worked as a state capitol correspondent for The Knickerbocker News between 1981 and 1987. She joined Inside Albany in 1987, after The Knickerbocker News discontinued publication. David Hepp, Bang-Jensen, and others founded an independent production firm after public television stations canceled it in July 1995 for financial concerns. At the time, Inside Albany was one of the longest-running TV programs.
