Meanwhile, an identical, malevolent “doppelganger” of Cooper was unleashed into the world, posing as Cooper to his friends and coworkers and being affiliated with the malignant spirit BOB. The actual Cooper wandered the Lodge for decades, unable to discover a way out. Cooper, who was in a severe catatonic condition when he exited via an electrical outlet, was mistaken for his tulpa Dougie Jones and spent many days being escorted around as “Dougie” by his clueless family and coworkers.
Cooper awoke from his coma and flew back to Twin Peaks to assist expel his doppelganger to the lodge once more, before returning to the night of February 23, 1989, in a futile attempt to spare Laura from her fate.
