He was born into an Indian immigrant family. His family returned to India when he was four years old, and he grew up in New Delhi. He went to St. Columba’s School and was a member of the school’s badminton team. His parents live in the Indian capital of New Delhi. Nayyar moved to the United States in 1999 to pursue a bachelor’s degree in finance at the University of Portland, Oregon.

While pursuing his degree, he began taking acting classes and appeared in several school plays. Nayyar decided to pursue acting after participating in the American College Theater Festival. He went on to Temple University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, where he earned a master’s degree in acting.

Storyline

Raj had selective mutism at first, which meant he couldn’t talk to or be around women unless he was inebriated. Raj also has very feminine tastes, and in his friendship with Howard and in the group of four men, he frequently plays the stereotypical female role. Raj later dates Lucy (Kate Micucci), who also has social anxiety, but their relationship is short-lived. He eventually overcomes his selective mutism and speaks to Penny without the use of alcohol. He starts dating Emily Sweeney, and the two eventually become exclusive. Cinnamon, Raj’s Yorkshire Terrier, is also his pet.

Kunal Nayyar Trolls Holiday

He was cast as Guy Diamond, a glittery, naked Troll with a highly auto-tuned voice and one of Poppy’s friends in the 2017 Christmas special Trolls Holiday. The Bergens have no holidays to celebrate after the Bergen Town tradition of eating Trolls on Trollstice is abolished. Poppy enlists the help of the Snack Pack and her friend Branch, who isn’t used to being happy, to celebrate Troll holidays.
