Konrad then spent the next two years (1985-1987) at the Alexander Zelwerowicz National Dramatic Academy in Warsaw, Poland. He studied and collaborated with theatre and film masters Jerzy Grotowski and Andrzej Wajda while there. He relocated to Rome, Italy, after graduation, to study with Alessandro Fersen at The Fersen Studio until 1992.

Kristof Konrad Career

Konrad went to Hollywood in 1992 after studying and working in Europe for seven years. He has worked in film and television in the United States and Europe for over twenty years. He began his film career with Roland Emmerich’s Independence Day, followed by roles in Hotel California, Angels & Demons, Chernobyl Diaries, and many others. Scorpion, Zoo, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., House of Cards, Scandal, Nikita, Alias, and many more are among his television credits. In the spy thriller Red Sparrow (2018), directed by Francis Lawrence and based on Jason Matthews’ book of the same name, Konrad played Dimitri Ustinov opposite Jennifer Lawrence. It follows Dominika Egorova (Lawrence), a Russian intelligence rookie who is assigned to seduce a CIA officer; she later falls in love with the officer and considers being a double agent. Konrad will play Igor Zavarov in the upcoming Il ragazzo invisibile – Seconda generazione.

While working in the United States early in his career, Konrad found the Alexander Technique. He was enthralled by its “effectiveness in improving one’s acting level and helping one cope with the stresses of performing and everyday life.” He spent three years at the Alexander Training Institute in Los Angeles, where he also received his certification, and training as an Alexander Technique teacher with Jean-Louis Rodrigue and others. Konrad has taught at the Berlin International Film Festival, Switzerland’s Verbier Festival & Academy, and the UBS Verbier Junior Orchestra. In New York, Los Angeles, Milan, Berlin, Toronto, and Vancouver, he conducts film acting and Alexander Technique intensive workshops.

He works at the Larry Moss Studio, Howard Fine Acting Studio, UCLA Extension Entertainment Studies, Theatricum Botanicum, and Media Access with Jean-Louis Rodrigue. Konrad worked with The Royal Shakespeare Company’s casts of King Lear and The Seagull; with Sharon, and Lawrence to create Vivien Leigh in Orson’s Shadow at the Pasadena Playhouse; with the cast of Elecricidad at the Mark Taper Forum; and with the artists of Cirque du Soleil’s Ka on improving performance and preventing injuries. Konrad trained Lymari Nadal to play Eva, Denzel Washington’s love interest in American Gangster.
