Kristian has covered major news stories ranging from severe weather (including devastating tornadoes, for which she received an Emmy award), fires, local politics, and presidential elections. She’s worked on Good Morning America, World News Tonight, and The Rachael Ray Show, as well as ABC’s hit soap drama One Life to Live.
Kristian won the Northwest Ohio Black Media Association Media Achievement Award in 2009 and was recognized in the Ohio School Board Association Media Hall of Fame in 2011 for her reports on education in the community. In 2007, she won Toledo’s prized 20 under 40 awards, as well as a Telly Award and an Associated Press Award for her piece Hip Hop Math. Kristian is a passionate industry leader and community advocate who frequently speaks to girls and women’s organizations about personal development and positive choices.
She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc. She is a member of the Blessings with Disguise Board of Directors and previously served on the Board of Directors of Big Brothers Big Sisters of Northwest Ohio. Kristian has been a prominent advocate for the Toledo Lucas County Library Summer Reading Club for more than five years and is participating with Healthcare Heroes because of her commitment to the community.
