Wimmer has acted on stage and television. She began her acting career by appearing in Disney productions in Florida, Japan, New York, and California. She performed off-Broadway in Mr. Pimm Passes By and at regional theaters around the country, including Yale Rep (First Lady) and Indiana Rep (world premiere of Les Trois Dumas). She is most known for her two-season co-starring role as “Elyce Cantwell” on the Comedy Central series Strip Mall from 2000 to 2001, as well as her performance in the 1999 comedy film Lucid Days in Hell. She has also made cameo appearances on American television shows, including NCIS. As the main singer of her band, Clockwork, she was a performer in residence at both the Bellagio.
Wimmer is the chair of the theater department at The Young Americans College of the Performing Arts in Southern California, where she teaches acting, improv, musical theatre, and life skills. Wimmer won the competition on Saturday, June 20, 1992, when she was crowned by outgoing Miss Alabama titleholder Wendy Neuendorf. is the first Mobile, Alabama, inhabitant to win the state title since Yolande Betbeze in 1950. Wimmer represented Alabama at the Miss America 1993 competition in Atlantic City, New Jersey, in September 1992. Her competitive talent was singing. She was not a finalist for the national championship, but she received the Quality of Life Award and a $10,000 award for her community service efforts.
As Miss Alabama, she made public appearances across the state, hosting pageants, signing autographs, and speaking engagements with school, church, and civic groups. She appeared in two trading card sets released by Cypher Entertainment in 1992. The first set honored the winners of Miss America’s 50 state pageants. The second covered the Miss America 1993 event, and Wimmer appeared on several cards. Her reign as Miss Alabama lasted until Kalyn Chapman was crowned on June 19, 1993.
