She worked as an evening news anchor for the NBC affiliates in Champaign, Illinois, and later as an anchor and reporter for KOVR-TV in Sacramento, California. Khazei joined Channel 7 in Boston, Massachusetts in January 1994, shortly after Sunbeam Television Corporation took over the station, and brought a “aggressive brand of local news” to the Boston market. She worked for the station’s morning show and co-anchored the first 4 p.m. newscast. In September 2001, she resigned to devote her full time to raising her family. She returned to her duties at WHDH-TV in August 2007.
