Fury began hosting a vlog series called Furious Thoughts on his YouTube channel in 2010. He also had a comedy blog at the time of the launch and set up a YouTube account to generate attention to it. His videos, which contained hilarious, unvarnished comments on contemporary culture and his personal life, drew a big and broad audience. He was dubbed “Black Twitter’s Kingmaker” by the New York Observer, and Ebony’s Jamilah Lemieux compared him to Eddie Murphy. In 2012, Kid relocated to New York City. His videos received over 10 million views as of July 2013. “As a person of color and a gay man, it is three times as difficult to get opportunities in this industry,” he told NBC in 2016.

He met his future partner Crissle West in 2011, and the two eventually moved to New York City in 2013. Chris Morrow approached Fury about making a podcast with the Loud Speakers Network, Morrow’s then-startup podcasting venture. Fury invited West to join him, and the podcast was dubbed The Read. The Read had 400,000 listeners for each episode as of January 2019. The Read with Kid and Crissle West, a television adaptation of the podcast, launched on Fuse in 2019.”Furious Thoughts Live” was a live version of Kid Fury’s show that featured mostly stand-up comedy in 2016. He also appears as a supporting character in Dear White People’s second season.

Fury revealed in July 2018 that he was producing a television drama for HBO with executive producer Lena Waithe. Fury is a staff writer for the HBO Max series Rap Sh!t, which is set in Miami. He also appeared in two episodes of the first season of the show. On The Read, he advocated for Missy Elliott to get MTV’s VMA Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award. Elliott accepted the prize in 2019 and thanked Fury and Kanye West during her acceptance speech.
