With Brent Ballard, Robert Reilly, Patrick Allen Brown, and Ron Fair, Booth formed the rock band Year Zero. Year Zero earned a significant deal with Chrysalis Records and released an album, including the single Hourglass, in 1987. After Year Zero disbanded, Booth continued to collaborate with drummer Pat Brown to form Marble Head Johnson. Booth collaborated with Hicks on Arizona Bay and Marble Head Johnson on songs.
