Green is most known for her work as a young teen in a series of 1980s teen films, including Summer Rental (1985), in which she played the daughter of an anxious air traffic controller (John Candy). Andrea “Andy” Carmichael, a cheerleader-turned-adventurer in the 1985 film The Goonies, gave her her big break. Her performance in Lucas (1986), in which she acted as the center of a love triangle between the roles of Corey Haim and Charlie Sheen, earned her even more critical acclaim. However, her subsequent film, Three for the Road (1987), starring Charlie Sheen and Alan Ruck, did not fare as well. Green had an appearance in a sequence from the 1990 film In the Heat of the Night.
She played Paul’s secretary in two episodes of the television sitcom Mad About You and participated in a short film called Blue Flame. She subsequently took a detour from acting to pursue an art degree at Vassar College, where she shared a room with Marisa Tomei’s brother Adam and BioShock engineer Ken Levine. Green eventually partnered with Bonnie Dickenson to form Independent Women Artists, a film production firm. She co-composed and coordinated the film adaptation of Bellyfruit, a drama about teen pregnancy, with Dickenson (1999).

The Goonies is a 1985 American adventure comedy film co-produced and directed by Richard Donner, based on a plot by executive producer Steven Spielberg and based on a screenplay by Chris Columbus.
