He found consolation in hardcore punk during his adolescence, which significantly inspired him and had a defining role in his life.Inspired by its freedom and ethics, he began on a number of do-it-yourself projects, including staging what is thought to be the first local show and publishing the town’s first fanzine. McClard, a former Maximumrocknroll columnist, founded Ebullition Records in early 1990 with Sonia Skindrud, the founder of the zine Exedra, and Brent Stephens, a member of Downcast. Skindrud came up with the label’s name, and Stephens designed the logo. However, McClard is the primary manager and operator of the label. Inside Out, a Los Angeles hardcore band, was supposed to record an LP as the first release for Ebullition. Revelation Records, on the other hand, approached them and wanted a 7″ release instead, and the band chose the more established label. The album was eventually postponed for another year, by which time the band had already split. Inside Out intended to release a follow-up album named “Rage Against the Machine,” but the project was shelved.
